About Me
Hi, I'm Maya. I'm a Parenting Coach based in Dublin, Ireland.
My passion for parenting coaching comes from a deep understanding of what modern family life truly demands. I believe that every parent deserves to feel confident, connected, and supported. My coaching philosophy is built on the profound insights of Adlerian psychology and Positive Discipline, emphasizing that children thrive when they feel truly loved, connected, and capable.
I've learned firsthand that by understanding the 'why' behind behaviors – the child's innate desire to feel like they belong and are significant – we can move beyond simply managing behavior to nurturing resilient, cooperative, and joyful family dynamics.
Here’s a bit about my own journey and what uniquely fuels my commitment to helping you:
1. Navigating My Own Daily Parenting Challenges
I vividly remember the frustration of the daily battle for cooperation and listening – that constant nagging, repeating myself, and feeling like every simple request was met with a 'no' or a power struggle. It felt like I was constantly battling my children, rather than truly connecting. It was in seeking solutions for these very real, everyday challenges that I discovered the profound power of understanding a child's deep need to feel loved, capable, and like they truly belong. This insight completely transformed my approach, shifting my focus from just 'managing' behavior to nurturing genuine connection and lasting harmony. My mission is to share this empowering insight with parents like you, so you can move beyond these daily struggles and build a truly harmonious home.
2. Understanding the Expat Parenting Journey
My own family's experience of living abroad as expats gives me a unique and profound understanding of the challenges you face. I've navigated the emotional rollercoaster of relocating, experienced the complexities of new school systems and cultural adjustments, and personally felt the isolation of building a new support network from scratch far from extended family. I intimately understand the moments of homesickness, the guilt of balancing a global life with your children's needs, and the desire to help them find their own sense of belonging in a new country. These experiences have shaped my empathy and fueled my dedication to supporting expat families not just survive, but truly thrive wherever they call home.
3. Empathy for Busy, Career-Driven Parents
Before dedicating myself to parenting coaching, I spent a significant portion of my career in the corporate tech world. I understand, intimately, the relentless pace, the demanding schedules, the blurred lines between work and home, and the unique pressures of a career-driven environment. I know what it feels like to leave a demanding day at the office only to walk into potential chaos at home, often feeling guilty about time scarcity or struggling to switch gears effectively. This background fuels my commitment to providing practical, efficient, and impactful strategies that busy parents can actually integrate into their packed lives, ensuring they can foster connection and calm, even amidst the demands of a high-pressure career.
Through my own experiences – including my journey as an expat parent – my professional background, and my deep dive into Adlerian psychology, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you'll gain clarity, effective tools, and lasting strategies. My goal is to empower you to reduce daily stress, strengthen your family bonds, and ultimately, discover the joy and peace you deserve in your parenting journey.
